Tropical Storm Erika alters South Florida cruise ship itineraries

Carnival, Norwegian cruises rerouted, Resorts World Bimini weekend trip canceled

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Tropical Storm Erika is beginning to affect vacation itineraries for cruise ships leaving out of South Florida.

Two cruise line's schedules have been altered, while another cruise was canceled because of the threat of Erika, Local 10 News learned Thursday.

The Carnival Conquest was scheduled to go to St. Maarten and St. Kitts, but that ship has been rerouted to San Juan, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas instead. Carnival released its revised itinerary schedule Friday night.

Resorts World Bimini has canceled its Friday-to-Sunday roundtrip cruise from Miami to Bimini, Bahamas. Monday's return trip is also canceled.

Norwegian Cruise Line said it has adjusted its itineraries for the Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Sky.

None of the other major cruise lines have reported any changes.
