PHOENIX - A cat perched atop a Phoenix power pole since Friday was safely rescued Monday, KNXV-TV reported.
Residents told KNXV it is a "community" cat that lives in the neighborhood.
"The power pole that the cat was perched atop is 30 feet, and it was energized," Salt River Project power and water spokesperson Jeff Lane told KSAZ-TV.
Video from KNXV from the scene showed a man climbing a ladder to get the cat named Gypsy.
AZFamily.com reported a pole and bucket were used in a failed rescue attempt.
"I know him well enough that he could have jumped, and knowing him he probably would have, but thank goodness he didn't cause that is kind of high for a cat," area resident Jenny Hardin told AZFamily.com.
KNXV reported that witnesses said Gypsy is currently with someone in the neighborhood.
