Carlos Suarez is the weekend evening anchor. He joined Local 10 News in March 2012 after spending two years at the CBS affiliate in Fort Myers.
He was born and raised in South Florida and graduated from Florida International University with a degree in political science.
In 2015, Carlos traveled to Puerto Rico for a series on the economic challenges facing the island including its debt crisis and drought.
In 2014, Carlos also traveled to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to cover the funeral of Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier. He also covered the shooting rampage at the Navy yard in Washington, D.C., that left 13 people dead, including the gunman.
Carlos was also part of the Local 10 News team that covered Pope Francis' historic trip to the U.S. He reported on the pope's visit to New York City, that included a procession in Central Park, Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral and a tour of the 9/11 Memorial.
He also reported from the United Nations General Assembly on the historic meeting between President Obama and Cuban leader Raul Castro.
Carlos began his news career with an internship at Univision his senior year at South Miami Senior High. He was an associate producer at the FOX affiliate in Miami while at FIU.
He spends his time off reading, watching reality television and spending time with his miniature schnauzer named Lily.
