BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Relativity Space, a California-based aerospace company that builds reusable rockets, is bringing thousands of new jobs to Brevard County, according to Space Florida, the state agency behind aerospace development.
Relativity Space will be eligible for an investment of up to $134 million from the Florida Department of Transportation’s Spaceport Improvement Program, according to Space Florida.
“Expanding our capacity in Florida enables our ability to scale the Terran R program to support commercial, scientific, and national security missions,” Eric Schmidt, Relativity Space’s executive chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement,
The Terran R, a 284-feet-tall lift rocket, is set to launch later this year at Launch Complex 16 in Cape Canaveral.
The plan for the Terran R production facility includes an expansion of the test and launch support infrastructure across from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
