The retail giant began to infringe on the actual day of Thanksgiving back in 2013, but with doors opening 8 p.m.  Macy's then changed the time to 6 p.m. in 2014 and 2015, before moving an hour earlier in 2016.

Macy's continues on with the trend of opening hours before the traditional start of the holiday shopping season on Black Friday.

As of now, only six Macy's locations are confirmed to be open on Thanksgiving, but the rest will assuredly follow with an upcoming announcement.

Nordstrom, Neiman-Marcus, Dillard's and Marshall's are among the department stores that will remain closed on Thanksgiving.
