City Year Miami looking for day of service volunteers

Mrytle Grove K-8 Center to be renovated on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – City Year Miami is partnering with the Miami Dolphins in the search for volunteers for an upcoming day of service.

Participants will help renovate the Myrtle Grove K-8 Center in Miami Gardens during a Martin Luther King, Jr. service day on Jan. 18. Volunteers will help beautify the school with projects including murals, landscaping and classroom renovations.

"We have all sorts of projects both indoors and outdoors," said Tere Blanca, the Board Chair of City Year Miami. "We're inviting the whole community to join us."

City Year is a national non-profit organization that's mission is to keep students and schools on track in areas that need it most.

In Miami, City Year volunteers serve 17 schools and more than 7,000 students. The Miami Dolphins have committed more than a million dollars to the organization over the next four years.
