21 South Florida students given $2,000 to put toward college tuition

McDonald's supports students who have college dreams

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Nearly two dozen South Florida high school seniors received $2,000 to put towards their college education from Ronald McDonald House Charities and local McDonald’s operators.  

The 21 students were honored Thursday at the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus.

The 2016 award winners were carefully hand-selected for their academic achievements and community involvement out of more than 600 applicants.  

The awards process also included a mentorship program, in which each winner was paired with a representative from the community, such as local business owners and past scholarship recipients.

Each winner was also treated to a new outfit for the reception.
