ADP employees raise donations for My Future, My Choice Big Book Drive

Books collected through Aug. 31

SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. – Local 10 News' My Future, My Choice Big Book Drive got a big boost Wednesday by payroll company ADP.

About 30 people from their South Miami office raised more than 130 books in two weeks.

"I think it is really important to help the youth of today to be more literate and get involved with reading. I think it is really important," ADP manager Yazbeth Galego said.

And it is not too late for you or your company to join in.

Ask your family, friends and even co-workers to get involved and then donate the books on Friday.

Through Aug. 31, Local 10 News is joining forces with Miami-Dade County and Broward County Public Libraries, Walgreens and other private businesses to collect new books for kids, and there are numerous places where you can drop off books.

"It actually is very amazing, because they (ADP) reached out as part of our community about three weeks ago and we began the process for making this donation happen," Miami-Dade librarian Athanasia Fitos said. "They did the drive internally. They were fully driven on their own and we just provided the site and the opportunity to get involved."

The books will be distributed to South Florida organizations that are ready, willing and able to get them in the hands of needy children.

Local 10 News anchors Todd Tongen and Neki Mohan make the final push in a big yellow school bus this Friday, and we hope you hop on board so we can drive the donation numbers sky high.
