McDonald's, New Jerusalem Ministry surprise teachers with breakfast

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 1-5

Teachers at Cypress K-8 Center are treated to breakfast Monday morning courtesy of McDonald's.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ It all began with an ideaĀ toĀ honor teachers for all their hard work and dedication.Ā The idea was followed with aĀ phone call to a McDonald's restaurants representative who was more than happy toĀ take part.Ā 

ForĀ Teacher Appreciation Week, New Jerusalem Ministry teamed up with the McDonald'sĀ at SouthwestĀ 40th Street and Southwest 113th AvenueĀ to provide breakfast Monday for 60 teachers at Cypress K-8 Center in southwest Miami-Dade County.

"We are so happy to be able to partner for (Monday) morning's breakfast and have the chance to show our thanks and gratitude to the Cypress K-8 Center educators who teach and care for our community's children day in and day out," local McDonald's operator Peter Menendez Jr. said.

Church members picked up specially prepared breakfast sandwiches, yogurt parfaits and hot coffee.Ā The group set up a display at the schoolĀ for the teachers to walk in and enjoy.

"We are honored to be partners with New Jerusalem Ministry," Principal Ed Alonso said.Ā "Their kind act of providing breakfast to our faculty in appreciation for what our teachers do every day is greatly appreciated."

McDonald's shows its appreciation for South Florida teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Teacher Appreciation Week runs May 1-5.Ā 

Local 10 will also team up with McDonald's restaurants to surprise another group of deserving teachersĀ with a hot lunchĀ at the end of the week.

To all South Florida teachers who educate, care for and go the extra mile forĀ students every day, thank you!Ā
