Broward Regional Health Planning Council (BRHPC) has partnered with Hispanic Unity of Florida and the Urban League of Broward County to make it easy for individuals and families to sign up for medical coverage.  Broward county residents will receive assistance from certified Navigators in selecting and enrolling in one of the various health insurance plan options.  Residents will need to provide the following documentation:  social security number, photo I.D., W-2 forms, legal status, email address.

Soaring:  The Legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen in South Florida

The Miramar Cultural Trust sponsored the creation of an exhibition that explores the history and the continuing legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen. Created during World War II after years of campaigning by civil rights leaders, the Tuskegee Airmen represented a significant opportunity to disprove racist arguments about black inferiority and erode justifications for segregation, both in the military and in civilian life.

Rafael Soriano:  The Artist As Mystic

The Artist As Mystic is the unprecedented retrospective of the Cuban Master Rafael Soriano featuring more than ninety of his paintings and drawings.  The artist’s full trajectory is explored, spanning three distinct periods: his early Cuban geometric abstract style, his transitional period in the 1960’s and 1970’s reminiscent of surrealist biomorphism, and closing with the luminous and mystical imagery of his mature period.

Bethlehem Revisited

First Church of Coral Springs, invites you to step back in time to Bethlehem Revisited, a living interactive recreation of the town of Bethlehem as it may have appeared 2,000 years ago. The recreation includes a walled city utilizing more than 30,500 square feet of lumber, an authentic marketplace, along with shepherds, Roman soldiers, storytellers, and a living Nativity.

The Local 10 Big Bus Toy Express


Time:  6 a.m. – 7 p.m.


For the fourth consecutive year, Local 10 and Big Bus Miami are teaming up to crisscross South Florida in a double-decker bus and collect new, unwrapped toys for the Marines Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.  The bus will stop at a neighborhood near you to give you a simple and convenient way to donate.  For a list of locations, visit local10.com.

Winter Shorts – America’s Short Play Winter Festival

Winter Shorts is the brand new festive version of City Theatre’s renowned Summer Shorts: America’s Short Play Festival and will include a jolly program of short plays celebrating holidays from Thanksgiving to Valentine’s Day, each a complete work totaling 8-10 minutes long.

The Compassionate Friends Candle Lighting Ceremony

The Compassionate Friends is a nonprofit that provides help and support to families who have lost a child.  Join them in this special candle lighting ceremony that will feature music and special readings in memory of a child or grandchild who passed on too soon.  A reception will follow the ceremony.

Holiday Music-Thon

Palm Beach Gardens Mall-near Nordstrom’s

Time:  9 a.m. – 7 p.m.   


More than 150 South Florida music students, ages 5 to 17, will participate in a 10-hour-long music-thon. Talented young guitarists, pianists, violinists and other musicians will play in non-stop harmony to raise funds that directly benefit Camp VITAS, a bereavement camp that provides support to children and teens who have lost a loved one.
