MIAMI – Members of the South Florida community, along with staff members of American Red Cross and Florida, Power & Light gathered together over the weekend to help paint a mural that will help raise funds for those impacted by Hurricane Ian.

The group was led by Miami-based artist Kyle Holbrook as they painted a mural of “What the Red Cross means to me” Saturday at the nonprofit organization’s headquarters in Miami.

According to a news release, “Each person’s unique story or image is the underpainting to a mural that highlights the various services the American Red Cross provides and partnership with FPL in disaster relief.”

After the mural’s completion for Miami Art Week, an NFT will be created that will allow future donations to the Red Cross to go further.

“While many people may choose to keep the unique digital art piece that commemorates their donation, those who decide to sell the digital collectible will generate additional proceeds from secondary sales to support the American Red Cross,” the news release stated. “Ownership will be in perpetuity as minted on the blockchain, and additional future sales mean additional funds for this great cause.”
