Broward County Commission to discuss paratransit service to FAU

FAU student, employee say commute is expensive, time consuming

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – Several disabled Broward County residents recently Called Christina for help, saying they would like to see Broward County's TOPS paratransit service extended to Florida Atlantic University.

Broward County Commissioner Lois Wexler has now added their idea as a discussion item to next week's agenda.

An FAU staff member and student were among those who Called Christina for help.

Since FAU is currently not a TOPS stop, they said they must connect through the Palm Beach County paratransit service, which they argue is both expensive and time consuming.

FAU is about two miles from the Mizner Park transfer point.

Broward County Transit said it is not feasible to extend the service, while FAU said they will consult with both paratransit services.

The Call Christina team will be there to hear what commissioners have to say.

The Broward County Commission meeting with be held next Tuesday at 10 a.m.
