Once-popular Wet Seal to close all stores

MIAMI ā€“ Once popular in the 90's, teen retailer Wet Seal has announced it will close all its stores and lay off all employees.

Wet Seal filed for bankruptcy in 2015 and had been attempting to find a buyer. When a buyer was not found, the company decided to close up shop.Ā

The closing of the store's more than 170 locations in 42 states is another indication of the struggling mall retail economy. Over the last few weeks, The Limited and American Apparel announced it was shutting down.

Wet Seal currently has three locations in South Florida with stores at the Pembroke Pines Mall, Bayside Marketplace and Coral Square in Coral Springs.
