MIAMI – A class action lawsuit that has been settled is basically a guarantee that you'll get free money. How much, however, is still unknown.
The class action lawsuit was brought against LG, Hitachi Maxell and NEC on behalf of customers who bought products containing lithium-ion cylindrical batteries, such as portable computers, power tools, camcorders, and replacement batteries.

The three manufacturers were accused of allegedly fixing the price of cylindrical lithium-ion battery cells, meaning you had to pay more for certain products that contained those types of batteries.
All three defendants agreed to settle for just under $45 million.

The claim period started in April, but you have through Nov. 29 to get registered. Payments are expected to start in either February or May of next year.
