37.8 million fire extinguishers recalled after car fire death

Extinguishers sold at Sears, Home Depot and others

Fire extinguisher manufacturer Kidde is recalling 37.8 million extinguishers in the U.S. and more than 2 million in Canada.

The company issued the recall over a problem with plastic handles.

A 2014 death from a car fire has been blamed on a defective fire extinguisher.

According to Kidde, emergency responders couldn'tĀ get the recalled extinguisher to work.

The recalled extinguishers were sold at Sears, The Home Depot, Walmart and Amazon.
