Big Mama knows how to throw a Christmas party
Santa made a stop in Lauderhill to meet with one of his favorite helpers
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Santa Claus loves Essie Reed. After years of being one of his favorite helpers, he gave her the title of "Big Mama."
A high-ranking official from the North Pole said the mom of three boys caught Santa's attention years ago. During an interview, Reed said she has been on a mission to help children in need, because she has experienced poverty herself.
The member of the Royal Assembly Church of The Living God in Fort Lauderdale has grown into a shining star in South Florida. On Friday, Local 10 News' Christina Vazquez was at the big party hosted by The Big Mama's Team Life Organization.
Big Mama and her generous team has been working hard this holiday season with toy drives and food giveaways. Her efforts are constant and extend to other times of the year. She helps children get school supplies before their first day of school and helps families with turkeys for Thanksgiving dinner.
