Preparations underway for annual Pitbull New Year's Revolution concert

Event kicks off Saturday night at Bayfront Park

MIAMI – Hip-hop superstars Salt-N-Pepa rehearsed Friday for their big performance for New Year's Eve as part of the annual Pitbull New Year's Revolution at Bayfront Park.

The free event and concert will be headlined by Mr. 305 himself and the city is already buzzing with excitement.

"I'm looking forward to a great event with millions of LED lights, fireworks and not to mention the performance of Pitbull and all his friends," Miami Commissioner Frank Carollo said.

Carollo is also chairman of the Bayfront Park Management Trust. He said security is the top priority, to ensure the safety of the thousands of people who are expected in downtown Miami Saturday night.

"Last year we had approximately 50,000 people here at Bayfront Park. This year we're expecting an even larger crowd," Carollo said.

Officers will be helping drivers and pedestrians navigate the streets safely and will be watching over the event itself.

"If you don't need to bring a book bag or anything that might cause suspicion to others, try to leave it at home," Miami police Lt. Freddie Cruz said.

Sky 10 was over the massive setup Friday. And as live music helps ring in the New Year, so will the Big Orange.

Mr. Neon will rise to the top of the InterContinental Hotel, signaling the very start of 2017 with a massive fireworks display.
