Christmas village is labor of love for Miami Gardens woman

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – If you can't get to a charming, snow-covered Christmas village, then bring the charming, snow-covered Christmas village to you.

That's what Sylvia Muniz has been doing for almost two decades inside her Miami Gardens home.

What began as one small table inside the house has now taken over her patio with over 1,000 pieces.

Muniz's holiday village display began as a hobby she would enjoy with her mother, who used to love the tiny villages. When Muniz's mother passed, she continued the tradition.

Many of the pieces on display are handmade in memory of her grandmother. Muniz's children and grandkids have all made pieces to add to the village. Her husband, Jose, is the man behind the scenes wiring the entire display.

"She finds joy in doing this and it makes so many people happy," says Erin Evans, Muniz' daughter.
