Despite obstacles, Hyatt family continues lavish Christmas' lights display

Family celebrates holiday spirit with some 200,000 lights

MIAMI – Not even Hurricane Irma or Plantation officials were able to stop the members of the Hyatt family from celebrating this Christmas season their way.

The family opened the home at 11201 NW 14 St. to the public Friday night for their Hyatt Extreme Christmas

The family allows strangers to walk through his property to explore the Christmas-themed spectacle that includes at least 200,000 lights.

Kathy Hyatt had to move her furniture to make way for the lights during the storms of this busy hurricane season. Her husband, Mark Hyatt, said it was all worth it.

This year, he is most proud of his moving 20-foot Ferris wheel display. There is also billowing snow and reindeers.

They will keep the lights on every evening until Dec. 28. The display will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. on Sunday to Thursday and from 6  to 11 p.m., on Friday and Saturday. The spectacle will be open for public viewing Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the first three weekends of December and also on Dec. 21 to Dec. 23.

Admission is free. The family is collecting nonperishable food for the Broward County Food Bank, donations for the Humane Society of Broward County and holiday cards for military members.
