12-year-old says he waited 3 hours for school bus that never arrived

Broward County Public Schools 'reviewing today's situation'

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Joshua Leguillou waited at the bus stop for more than three hours Tuesday, but a bus never arrived to take him to school.

"I was scared and worried," the 12-year-old said.

The middle school student was stranded at the bus stop with six other children.

At about 10 a.m., Joshua contacted his mom, Muriel Leguillou, who dropped him off at his designated stop right at the corner of 49th Avenue and Thomas Street in Hollywood earlier in the morning.

When Leguillou got the message, her heart dropped.

"I was like, 'What do you mean? Where are the other kids?'" she said.

The other students were picked up earlier by their parents, leaving Joshua alone.

After learning what happened, Leguillou left work to get her son safely to school.

When she contacted officials about the incident, Leguillou was told the bus broke down and got an apology from the school. But that wasn't enough for Leguillou, who wanted reassurance that this won't happen again.

Broward County Public Schools issued a statement Tuesday about the incident.

"The district's transportation department is reviewing today's situation, and its protocols and communication practices, to prevent any similar situation in the future," the statement said. "The transportation department will continue to work with the families involved regarding this matter."
