Miami-Dade police officers to help at back-to-school event

Event includes free school supplies and health screenings

MIAMI – Miami-Dade County police officers, prosecutors and public defenders will be helping children to prepare to go back to school during an event Saturday. 

The Annual Back to School Drive and Health Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Church of the Open Door at 6001 NW 8 Ave., near Miami Edison Senior High School.

Children will be able to get free school supplies and there will also be games, music and other fun activities. The health fair includes free screenings and education on oral health, breast exams and nutrition.  

Jackson Memorial Hospital, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Feeding South Florida and Office Depot are among the long list of sponsors. For more information, call 305-759-0373.
