3D light show coming to S. Fla. resort

Ocean Residences Conrad to host display

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Fort Lauderdale resort is ready to unveil a new 3D light display that may blow the doors off Fourth of July fireworks.

The new Ocean Resort Residences Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach will debut its "Light Up the Ocean" show on Thursday night.

The mapping display, which will be featured on the walls of the building at 551 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., is being called a colossal 3D visual light show.

Guests and non-guests will be able to enjoy the show from anywhere near the property.

The light shows are similar to those that have become popular around the country where arenas use basketball courts or hockey ice as a canvas for amazing 3D presentations that include objects that appear to jump out of their base.

Ocean Resort Residences Conrad took their inspiration from a display promoting the movie "The Tourist" on the side of a Dallas hotel in 2010.

The light show at the Ocean Resort Residences Conrad will be ongoing, with the first appearance coming on Thursday night and run through March.

Shows will begin every hour between 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
