Blake Jenner's 'Billy Boy' pulled from Miami Film Festival lineup

Removal of Miami native's movie may have to do with star's recent divorce

MIAMI – The Miami Film Festival will be without one of its hometown stars on the red carpet next month.

"Billy Boy," which was written, co-produced and stars Miami native Blake Jenner, has been pulled from the 2017 lineup. The film was scheduled to make its world premiere March 4 at the Miami Film Festival.

The movie is no longer listed on the festival's website lineup. A message on the "Billy Boy" description of the festival's website said it was canceled "by the producers and sales agent of the film."

"We loved 'Billy Boy' from the first minute we saw it. It's a raw, intense and brave film that marks a dramatic direction in Blake's progression as a boldly independent-minded artist," Miami Film Festival executive director Jaie Laplante told The Hollywood Reporter. "We share the disappointment of Blake's hometown fans."

The removal of "Billy Boy" from the festival's lineup may have to do with the recent split between Jenner and co-star Melissa Benoist. The "Supergirl" star filed for divorce in December, citing irreconcilable differences.
