Local 10 catches up with Jimmy Kimmel ahead of Oscars

Kimmel to host 89th annual Academy Awards

LOS ANGELES – ABC's late night-funny guy Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the 89th annual Academy Awards on Sunday.

"How are you handling all the pressure?" Local 10 News reporter Neki Mohan asked Kimmel on Thursday.

"What pressure? Am I supposed to be feeling any pressure? I am completely relaxed. I am heavily medicated," he joked.

Kimmel sat down with Mohan during a break from preparing for the big show. The hardest part, he said, was telling his wife that he was going to do it.

"I hosted the Emmys in September, and there was a time leading up to that where I was impossible to live with," Kimmel said.

Kimmel's wife, Molly, is also helping him prepare for the Oscars. After all, she is a head writer on his show, and he said humor is the soundtrack to their life.

"There is a lot of foolishness that goes on," Kimmel said. "The funniest person in my house is my 2-year-old."

As for what he has planned for the big night, Kimmel wouldn't give away anything and said it's a surprise.

Viewers can watch the Oscars Sunday night on Local 10.
