Small exhibits bloom in eclectic group of art galleries around Miami

MIAMI - Here is a list of some of the special exhibits art galleries in Miami will be hosting this weekend for the art lovers descending to South Florida for Art Basel Miami Beach at the convention center. 

 

WYNWOOD

Local talent 

Gallery: Bakehouse Art Complex, 561 NW 32 St., in Miami's Wynwood. 

Artists: The space has 60 individual artists studios. 

Exhibit: Sagas on Thin Ice at the Audrey Love Gallery and Sociial Fabric at the Swenson Gallery

Hours: It's open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. from Thursday to Sunday. 

 

Asian and Latin

Gallery: Mana Contemporary, 2217 NW 5th Ave., in Miami's Wynwood. 

Artists: Shiva Ahmadi, Patty Chang, Isabella Cruz-Chong, Esteban del Valle, Wang Gongxin, Guadalupe Maravilla, Joiri Minaya, Carlos Motta, UuDam Tran Nguyen, Rahraw Omarzad, Rashid Rana, Karina Aguilera Skvirsky, Rachelle Mozman Solano and Zhou Xiaohu.

Exhibit: Exquisite Corpse: Moving Image in Latin American and Asian Art

Hours: It's open from 1 to 9 p.m. from Thursday to Sunday. 

 

360 degrees art experience

Gallery: Formerly Zadok Gallery, 2534 N. Miami Ave., in Miami's Wynwood. 

Artists: Adhemas Batista from Brazil, Beeple from South Carolina, FAFI from France, INSA from the United Kingdom, and Signalnoise from Canada

Exhibit: The Vegas: Alter Your Reality is a virtual reality experience that requires Samsung Gear VR headsets

Hours: t's open from 1 to 9 p.m., Thursday to Saturday.

 

Mexican pride with Romero Britto

Gallery: Be / Art Contemporary Gallery, 119 NW 29 St., in Miami's Wynwood. 

Artists: Jesus Lima, Neon Caron, Madera de Lobo, Ivan Montero, Galit Garzon and Romero Britto.

DESIGN DISTRICT

New abstract 

Gallery: Moore Building (3841 NE 2nd Avenue, Miami) Miami's Design District.  

Artists: Jeffrey Deitch, Larry Gagosian Tauba Auerbach, Dan Colen, Sterling Ruby, Josh Smith, Christina Quarles.

Gallery: Spinello Projects, 7221 NW 2 Ave., in Miami's Little Haiti neighborhood. 

Artists: Augustina Woodgate, Naama Tsabar, Sinisa Kukec and Antonia Wright

Exhibit: Woodgate presents Cosmetica, Tsabar presents Stranger, Kukec presents Facing West-Responsible Inclusive Violence and Wright presents Control. 

Hours: The gallery will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday. 

 

EDGEWATER

11 emerging artists

Gallery: The National Young Arts Foundation, 2100 Biscayne Blvd., in Miami's Edgewater.

Gallery: SocialXChange event at 601 Biscayne Blvd., in downtown Miami. 

Artist: HBCU graduates and members of Black Greek Letter organizations

Exhibit: Basel Black Art Experience

Hours: The opening is from 8 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m., Saturday.

 

Art book signing

Gallery: The Fredric Snitzer Gallery and David Castillo Gallery are presenting an exhibit at 1540 NE Miami Court in downtown Miami.
