"The Godfather" is returning to theaters this Sunday and June 7 to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the 1972 Oscar winner.

Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on the novel by Mario Puzo, "The Godfather" won Oscars for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay (shared by Coppola and Puzo).
Marlon Brando, who stars as Vito Corleone, famously refused his Oscar for Best Actor, instead sending Native American activist Sacheen Littlefeather to the ceremony in his place.
