Mom catches son soothing his terminally ill brother

PERTH, AUSTRALIA – Instead of finding her two sons causing trouble in the other room, a mother captured a special and heartbreaking moment as the older boy comforted his terminally ill brother.

Sheryl Blanksby of Perth, Australia shared the moment on her Instragram page.

Blanksby and her family were on vacation when she walked in on the children, expecting "my baby to be covered in Nutella or something."

Instead, she found her 3-year-old son, William, lying next to his sick brother, Thomas, and comforting him by saying that "everything is OK."

The New York Post reports Thomas was diagnosed with a malignant rhaboid tumor at just 11 weeks old in February.  The cancer was determined to be terminal during surgery to remove Thomas' kidney.

Only 25 cases of Thomas' specific cancer are reportedly diagnosed in the U.S. each year, and according to The Sun, there is no case of successful treatment.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help raise money for the family to create "amazing moments together" in the time they have left.
