"I so excited!"
That's what my 2 year-old said to me this morning when she woke up!
She was so excited to go to school for the very first time. I'll admit, I thought about keeping her home. The kid hasn't been sick all summer, but this morning woke up with a runny nose and cough! But there was so much build up to the big day… her very first day of school. Yes, I know it's only pre-school, but still, for us it counts.
When we got inside to drop off the girls, my oldest made a beeline to her classroom. I'm not kidding when I say she never said goodbye. The baby was different.
"Stay mommy," she said as I tried to put her lunch in her cubby without her. My husband quickly came to my rescue. He sat with her at her table and started doing puzzles. My huge husband in a tiny pre-school seat was quite a sight. I kissed her forehead and told her I would see her later and she continued doing her puzzle. I literally had to tap my husband's shoulder to get him out of the too tiny chair to get him to leave.
After paying for pizza and checking on my oldest again I came out to see my husband peeking at the baby through her open door. I was okay, the girls were okay, but in a surprise move… he seemed the most nervous of us all.
The first day was a ‘big' deal for all of us… and the ‘biggest' deal perhaps to the ‘biggest' of us all… dad!
