Local 10 morning news anchor Jacey Birch announces return

Jacey has been on maternity leave since birth of son Jupiter

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Local 10 morning anchor Jacey Birch has announced she will return on Dec. 19.

Birch made the announcement Thursday morning while introducing viewers to Jupiter, her son with meteorologist Trent Aric.

"He's the biggest blessing of our lives," Jacey told co-anchor Eric Yutzy. "Trent and I had no idea."

The couple welcomed Jupiter into the world in September.

"Probably the most amazing part for me is the breastfeeding," Jacey said. "When I gave birth and he immediately needed me for food, I was like, 'Whoa!' When a little being needs you and can't live without you, that might be the coolest thing ever."

Jupiter was born just days after Jacey was involved in a car crash that left her with a concussion and a broken foot.

"The foot made it a little bit harder," Jacey said. "Jupiter was great. Pregnancy and labor -- everything was smooth -- but the broken foot slowed us down. I'm walking."

Wake up with Jacey Birch and Eric Yutzy weekdays on Local 10 starting at 4:30 a.m.
