PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. - I swore I would only have two kids… and two kids I have!
But boy have I inherited a lot of other family members and Friday my latest: a new pet pig.
I know that may sound crazy to some people, having a pet pig, but for us it's actually the norm.
We already have one pot belly named "Pig" (she was named by my 2 and 4 year-old daughters) and Friday we brought home Pork Chop.
Poor Pork Chop was abandoned by its owners and taken to the Humane Society. This is where my family comes in. My husband LOVES and I means LOVES animals. He's like a farmer. We have chickens and turkeys. We've also had goats and ponies in the past.
When he heard that a pig was up for adoption, he was all about it.
I could do without having to take care of something else, but hey, if it makes him happy and our girls happy, why not?
Some people may not know this, but pigs make really great pets.
They are very friendly, they wag their tails and despite popular belief, they are clean! We have the space, Pork Chop will be well taken care of, and he will get played with a ton.
We do have to keep him and "Pig" separated though for a bit because one's a girl and the other is a boy and well… I swore I would only have two pigs…and two pigs I now have.
