Forget the dog park. This pack is going places.
“Dog Mom Walk” brings people and their pups together at pet-friendly venues across South Florida. The destination changes and the pack just keeps growing.
“It’s amazing how big it’s grown since day one. It’s never in the same place,” said Dog Mom Walk co-founder Ana Elvir.
The group connects on social media, then takes that connection offline — giving dogs a pack and their people a community.
At its core, Dog Mom Walk is exactly what the name suggests: a way for people who love their dogs to find one another.
“Get all the local dog moms together and make amazing friendships and genuine connections,” said Elvir.
Elvir and her dog, Teddy, were already well known on social media through their “Tour with Teddy” page, highlighting pet-friendly places across South Florida. As interest grew, Elvir and her friend Claudia took those online connections offline — launching Dog Mom Walk in 2023.
That changing scenery is part of the point. Rather than sticking to one neighborhood or route, the group uses its walks to introduce members to pet-friendly destinations from West Palm Beach to Miami-Dade County.
Many of the gatherings are outdoors, but August heat called for a different kind of walk — one with air conditioning and “window sniffing” at Aventura Mall.
The mall helped facilitate the indoor outing, with cleaning crews on hand to keep things sanitary as the pack made its way through the shopping center.
Don’t let the name fool you: dog dads are also welcome.
The group is headed to The Shops at Merrick Park in Coral Gables next month, with a possible Fort Lauderdale stop planned after that.
