With Fidel Castro's Communist revolution came state owned media. Granma is the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party. It was named after the yacht Granma that carried Fidel Castro and dozens of others to the island on 1956. It was founded Oct. 4, 1965.
