IVF clinic warns of sperm mix-up affecting 26 parents

Oops! Clinic may have used wrong sperm during in-vitro fertilizations

MIAMI – A fertility clinic made a shocking revelation to a man and several couples who trusted them with their fertility treatments.

The University Medical Centre in Utrecht, Netherlands, announced a "procedural error" may have caused their embryologist to use the sperm cells of one couple to fertilize the egg cells of 26 couples.

Some of the women were already pregnant or had given birth when they learned the identity of their children's father was in question due to the mix-up.

The mistake  happened during in-vitro fertilization procedures between April 2015 and November 2016, according to the clinic.
