Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport expected to break holiday travel record

Airport expects more than 100,000 passengers during holiday season

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Aviation officials at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport expect about 1.4 million travelers to fly in and out of the airport during the busy holiday season.

The airport's travel season kicked off Saturday and continues through Jan. 3. Officials expect they will see more than 100,000 passengers on each of the five busiest travel days, which are Dec. 19, 26, 27 and Jan. 2 and 3.

In October, the airport launched smart parking technology to help ease the flow of traffic. Red and green lights in the garage signal whether parking spaces are available.

Curbside valet is also available on the departure levels outside Terminals 1 through 4.

Travel experts advise passengers to arrive at least two hours early for domestic flights and three hours early for international flights, if they are flying during the holidays.
