MIAMI – Colombia --- not Columbia --- is the happiest country in the world only above the island paradise of Fiji, according to the WIN/Gallup International Association's survey.
The survey gave Colombia a "net happy score" of 85 points, which is 20 points above the global average. And this isn't the first time Colombia tops the annual list. In 2011, Colombia was the happiest country with 77 points.

The "Colombianos" display a curious optimism. The South American country has been at war since 1948. Despite having a long list of reasons to cry, when the Colombian soccer team scored during the World Cup, the players gained notoriety for what the Washington Post referred to as "their swiveling little salsa."
It could be the love for parties, the everlasting supply of Juan Valdez gourmet coffee, joyful women like Shakira and Sofia Vergara, or the long list of public holidays. The survey did not specify why. But one fact is clear: With peace talks underway in Cuba, it is likely that the survey's score may be even higher next year.
