Just because it's cold outside doesn't mean you can't still enjoy a camping trip. Get tips here on how to successfully camp when it's cold outside.
Pick a good location: When choosing where to camp make sure to pick a good location. Make sure you pick a place that is accessible and not snowed in, that has mild climates and has an emergency shelter nearby.
Check the weather: Make sure you check the forecast before heading out on your trip. Look to see if a snowstorm is expected and what the temperatures are predicted to be.
Pack accordingly: Pack a lot of warm clothing so you can dress in layers. Bring boots, jackets, hats, mittens and scarves. Also bring thermal underwear and warm socks. Pack a warm sleeping bag and preferably a four-season tent.
Bring firewood: Don't rely on being able to find firewood at your camping location, as it might be covered in snow. Instead, bring your own firewood just to be safe.
Eat right: Bring warm, hearty foods to eat while winter camping to keep your body full and warm.
