TAMARAC, Fla. - Police are trying to track down the person who shot and killed a man inside a Tamarac apartment complex early Wednesday morning.

About 3:18 a.m., officers were called to the Sun Vista Gardens apartment complex off Rock Island Road where they found a man in his 20s shot dead in the parking lot.

"I was shocked," said Rose Charles.

"Worried, very worried," said David Phillip.

The body was found between two cars.

"For someone to be killed in the parking lot would concern anybody," said Charles.

"The shots woke me up, so I thought it was firecrackers," said Rohan Gayle. "Rapid rapid, like firecrackers, cause it was a distance from where I was."

Police set up a large perimeter while searching for the shooting suspect. They also interviewed witnesses at the scene.

"It is a little scary, so I called my daughter to lock the door and put the alarm on," said Jackie Hassadaallen.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
