Driver of Porsche killed in wrong-way wreck on I-75

3 others injured, including 1 in critical condition

DAVIE, Fla. – One person was killed and 3 others were injured in a fatal wrong-way crash Saturday morning on Interstate 75 in Davie.

The crash happened in the northbound lanes just north of Sheridan Street.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a red Porsche was traveling south in the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a blue Honda Pilot that was towing a boat.

"We had the driver of the Porsche that was pronounced dead at the scene," Sgt. Mark Wysocky told Local 10 News.

The driver of the Porsche was later identified as Jenri R. Velasquez Ruiz, 23, of Miami.

Three victims were taken to Broward Health Medical Center. The passenger in the Porsche was listed in critical condition.

Troopers have not yet confirmed if heavy fog played a factor in the crash.

"The majority of these have been alcohol-related or drug-related, but we don't have that information on this case at this time," Wysocky said.
