2 teens killed in northwest Miami-Dade crash

1 driver remains in critical condition; other driver not injured

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ Two teenagers were killed after a pickup truck crashed into theĀ car they were riding in Monday in northwest Miami-Dade, authorities said.Ā 

The crash was reported at 5:35 p.m. in the area of Northwest 173rd Drive and 74th Avenue.

Miami-Dade police said the driver of a black Toyota Corolla was heading west on 173rdĀ Drive when the car was struck by a white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck that had beenĀ traveling south on 74thĀ Avenue and was beginning to cross 173rdĀ Drive.

Police said the impact caused the Corolla to slide onto the median. Authorities said it then struck a fire hydrant and a tree, ejecting one of the passengers, who was identified as Cristian Arocha, 18, of Miami.

Arocha was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Corolla, Jonathan Sanchez, 19, of Hialeah, and his other passenger, Sebastian Delgado, 17, of Miami, were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.

Delgado died Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Police said the driver of the pickup truck, Daniel Medina, 19, of Miami, was not injured.Ā Ā 

Police said the investigation is ongoing. No one has been charged.Ā
