Police hunting for copper thieves

Copper thefts have seemed to level off because of tougher regulations

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – It seems the copper thieves are back at it again in South Florida.

Boynton Beach Police are investigating after someone stole $800 worth of copper wiring from a property on High Ridge Road.

The investigation into the theft is just beginning.

If they catch the crook, he will be charged with Grand Theft.

Copper theft cases have seemed to level off since municipalities installed stiffer regulations about the sales of scrap metals.

The theft does come after a series of storm shutter thefts right before the start of hurricane season.
