Chad Johnson issues not guilty plea

Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver charged with domestic battery

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chad Johnson issued a plea of not guilty to a domestic battery charge.

Johnson was not in court on Thursday morning for his arraignment but a written plea of not guilty was submitted.

On Wednesday, the Broward State Attorney's Office filed one count of misdemeanor domestic battery against Johnson.

Johnson was arrested August 11 at his Davie home after he was accused of head butting his wife Evelyn Lozada during an argument. He was cut by the Dolphins shortly after his arrest.

Johnson faces one year in jail if he's convicted.
