Deputies seek gunman who fatally shot friend in Pompano Beach

Detectives believe gunman played recklessly with handgun

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office is looking for the gunman who shot and killed a 19-year-old man at 428 SW 2nd Place in Pompano Beach Friday afternoon.

Detectives said the shooting may have happened as one of the four friends, 20-year-old Adiel Jaramillo, played recklessly with a handgun and fatally shot Michael Cornelio at the scene.

When deputies arrived at the location shortly after 2:48 p.m., they found a body of a man in his 20s. Detectives said Jaramillo ran from the apartment after the shooting.

According to investigators, Jaramillo is a known gang member with a criminal history and may be armed. He is facing charges of manslaughter, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Detectives said Jaramillo is believed to be on foot.
