Daniel Flores charged with striking school employee, resisting arrest with violence

WESTON, Fla. – One Cypress Bay High School student was arrested Friday following a fight involving hundreds of students.

The incident began as a food fight in the cafeteria about noon, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

As students gathered, so did school resource officers, faculty members, and deputies. Deputies forced the crowd outside, where students formed a mosh pit and began fighting.

School administrators saw 17-year-old Daniel Flores throw something, said BSO. When the assistant principal tried stopping him, Flores hit him.

Two deputies apprehended Flores. He was charged with striking a school employee and resisting arrest without violence.

Twelve students were suspended for 10 days after the incident.
