Burglar hits 2 North Miami Beach restaurants

Burglar enters restaurants through open rear doors, steals money

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – North Miami Beach police are looking for a burglary who hit two restaurants four days apart.

The burglaries happened at Thai House II at 2250 NE 163rd Street on May 24 and El Gran Inka at 3155 NE 163rd Street on May 28.

"We have cameras all over the place, inside and outside," said Luis Vargas, who works at Thai House II. "Nothing like this has ever happened. We thought it was some of the deliverers, the suppliers."

Both times, the burglar walked inside the restaurant through a back door.

"It was unlocked because at that time, we have a lot of people coming in and dropping food off, fish and meat, you know," said Vargas.

At Thai House II, the burglar stole cash.

"We discovered when we were going to open our register, so we were looking for cash to put it in there and it was missing," said Vargas. "We went back to the cameras and we saw what happened."

At El Gran Inka, the burglar took the restaurant's safe and rummaged through employees' purses.

Anyone with information on the burglaries is asked to call Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-8477.
