1-year-old baby hospitalized after near-drowning in Coral Springs

Child now breathing on his own, says police

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A 15-month-old baby has been taken to the hospital after police say he nearly drowned in a pool during a birthday party.

The incident happened Sunday afternoon at a home in the 9500 block of 1st Court in Coral Springs.

Police said the baby, Aiden Vadillo, had flipped over while on a floatee in the pool. Vadillo was in the water for 3 to 4 minutes.

When Vadillo was discovered, police said he wasn't breathing and had a faint pulse.

Vadillo's grandfather had performed CPR on him. He was attending his 6-year-old sister's birthday party at the time of the accident.

Vadillo was taken to Coral Springs Medical Center and then transferred over to Broward Health Medical Center. Officials said he is currently breathing on his own.
