Fort Lauderdale Tea Party leader to Toni Braxton: 'Go be an African'

Danita Kilcullen posted following singer's tweet about verdict in George Zimmerman trial

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – The co-founder of the Fort Lauderdale Tea Party told Toni Braxton, "yo, girl you can't take America's justice system? Go be an African!" after the singer tweeted about her disappointment in verdict made in the George Zimmerman trial.

"I think the Tea Party has some soul searching to do," said Mount Olive Baptist Church Pastor Marcus Davidson.

Danita Kilcullen made the post to her Facebook page on Sunday. She linked to a story about Braxton's tweet, which said: "Today I am embarrassed to be an American...my heart goes out to the Martin family."

"It's not these kinds of remarks that help foster race relations," Davidson said about Kilcullen's post. "It further divides our country. I would remind her that she be careful in choosing her words, particularly as a leader."

Kilcullen didn't return phone calls from Local 10 on Wednesday.
