FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man is dead and another is in the hospital after they were struck by a car in Fort Lauderdale.

Around 8 p.m. Friday, police said a car was traveling eastbound on Broward Boulevard and Northwest 7th Avenue when it struck and killed a man who was crossing the street.

According to police, the driver, fearing he had run over "something," made a U-turn at Northwest 5th Avenue. Police said the car then struck a second person who was riding on his bicycle.

According to Fort Lauderdale police, the driver stayed at the scene and spoke with investigators.

The other victim was taken to Broward Health. His condition is not known.
