Police investigating robbery attempt after shots fired at apartment complex

Woman pistol whipped during attempted robbery in West Park

WEST PARK, Fla. – Police investigated a robbery attempt after shots were fired Monday afternoon at an apartment complex located at 5525 SW 41 Street in West Park.

According to police, a woman was pistol whipped during the robbery attempt. She was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is being described as a black male between the ages of 18 and 23. He is 5 foot 10 inches, slim build with short, cropped hair. He was seen wearing a blue shirt, black shorts with a shite stripe and a black homemade bandana covering his face.

After the robbery, several shots were fired at bystanders trying to help the victim, but no one was hit, police say. Three bullets hit the door of an apartment.

Officials said the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
