Dolphins' Reshad Jones receives contract extension

Jones 4-year deal reported $29.285M

DAVIE, Fla. – Reshad Jones always thought he was an important part of the Dolphins defense; now he has the contract to prove it.

The safety, drafted by Miami in the 2010 NFL Draft, signed a contract extension with the Dolphins that will keep him in aqua and orange through the 2017 season.

Jones' new deal is worth $29.285 million with $15 million of that money guaranteed, including a $5 million signing bonus.

In his three seasons with the Dolphins, Jones has six interceptions, four sacks and 170 tackles while starting 30 games in Miami.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the deal makes Jones the NFL's sixth-highest paid safety.
