MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Staff members handed out new regulation plastic bags for any Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers that headed into Sunlife Stadium for Saturday's home opener.
The staff handed out the plastic bags for free to help increase gate security checks and safety for all.
For each member of the family or group, it means having one bag that's either clear plastic, vinyl or PVC, and does not exceed 12-inches by 6-inches and 12-inches, or a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag.
Fans may also carry in a small clutch bag or purse approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap.
The new security policy that was in effect for the first time Saturday night affected the type and size of bags permitted inside the stadium, not the items that fans normally take into the game.
There is one exception to the rule, which is made for medically necessary items after proper inspection.
Those that are season-ticket holders or those willing to pay extra can carry in an NFL approved Miami Dolphins bag.
Finally, the new bag policy does not affect what tailgaters can bring into the parking lots. It only affects what goes into the stadium itself and across the NFL.
